Avencia develops innovative, web-based software that uses mapping technologies and geography to solve complex, interesting, and novel problems. We serve a broad range of clients including governments, non-profit organizations, universities, and businesses. We have particular expertise in natural resource planning, economic development, crime analysis, elections/politics, and cultural resources, but are engaged in a wide range of other interesting projects.
We are looking for someone who will work closely with our Graphic and Web Designer and who would like to gain experience with a small, young and innovative company. Our projects and products involve web technologies, maps, geography, and spatial analysis. If that speaks to you, then we are the right place for you.
You will work with two types of teams. First you will work closely with Avencia’s software development teams to design, skin and create user interfaces for our web-based software applications. Second, you will collaborate with the marketing staff to design marketing collateral, e-cards, landing pages, etc. for marketing campaigns.
Job Description: Part-time position (20 hrs/week)
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Design and construct web pages, web sites, and navigation elements, generally incorporating dynamic content and interface controls
• Update Avencia’s product web sites (created and maintained with a combination of WordPress and DotNetNuke)
• Assist with redesign of existing web sites and web-based applications
• Design marketing collateral (flyers, ads, pamphlets, e-cards, landing pages etc.) as needed
Skills:
• Excellent knowledge of standards-based XTHML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Excellent knowledge of graphic design software: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, (Flash desirable, but not a must)
• Knowledge of interface design for web applications
• Knowledge of interface and UX design for web applications
• Experience with scripting languages (.NET, PHP or ColdFusion)
• Knowledge of the DotNetNuke framework (desirable, but not a must)
• Attention to detail
• Work autonomously as well as with a group
• 1-3 years of applicable experience
