Job Responsibilities:

Performs general engineering duties encompassing the preparation of studies, drafts, specifications and cost and statistical control data covering production, fabrication and testing on segments of projects.
Analyzes all areas of assigned engineering problems and the concurrent planning essential to completion of program segments in a timely and efficient manner.
Assignments include equipment, tooling, structural, electronic, electrical, mechanical design and development; test of materials; preparation of specifications for equipment and subcontracts; process study; research investigations and report of preparation of limited scope requiring knowledge of principles, practices and techniques commonly employed in the specific area of assignments.
Represents management at technical meetings with outside agencies on problems such as planning, scheduling, progress, and difficulties encountered on a particular assignment.
Coordinates moderately difficult engineering studies and plans with division supervisors and foremen to accumulate factual data required for planning purposes.
Assists in the development of new and approved technological procedures involving ancillary equipment and design of tooling and equipment for portions of assigned program.
Supervises and/or instructs engineers, draftsmen and other technical or clerical personnel to draft designs, standards, directives and correspondence pertaining to assignments.
Performs duties that require the consistent exercise of discretion.
Maintain familiarity with, observes and trains the staff in Safety, Environmental (RCRA) and Health requirements.
Assures that he/she understands the necessity to continuously improve processes and systems under their control and to meet customer needs, both internal and external.
Work requires knowledge of an advanced type in a field of science or learning, customarily obtained by a prolonged course of specialized instruction and study or work that is original and creative in character in a recognized field of artistic endeavor and the results of which depends primarily on employee's invention, imagination or talent.
Manages both schedule and cost elements of assigned projects to include periodic reporting of those elements for each project managed.
NOTE:  This role will work during the 5PM - 3AM schedule

 
Job Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 years of related experience in a high volume manufacturing environment
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in Engineering or scientific field.
Designs work flows and procedures - provide detailed documentation
Experience with tooling design, modification and retrofitting
Knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and GroupWise needed.
Experience with engineering software programs and Microsoft Project.
Must have experience and proven track record of applying Lean manufacturing principles
Generate creative solutions; Applies design principles; Demonstrates attention to detail.
Problem Solving - Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully.
DOE - Design of Experiments
Project Management - Develops project plans.
Excellent to superb communications skills both written and verbal with the capacity to give presentations
Strong documentation skills

Demonstrate Business Acumen and strategic thinking.
Cost analysis - Develops and implements cost saving measures.
Planning/Organizing - Prioritizes and plans work activities; Uses time efficiently; Sets goals and objectives; Develops realistic action plans.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. 
Present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. 
Read and interpret drawings.
Apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. 
Apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis. 
Have an understanding of calculus. 
Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Valid driver's license required.
Government Secret Clearance may be required.
The following personal protective equipment may be required of this position: safety glasses, conductive safety shoes, hearing protection and gloves.
