An exciting new opportunity has arisen within the new Engineering and UK business unit of Elsevier's Science & Technology Books Group to lead the development and delivery of a new suite of electronic products targeted at the corporate market. Working closely with colleagues in sales, marketing and editorial you will be responsible for the planning, development and overall product management of new product lines, clusters, assets and packages aimed at engineering customers in the corporate sector. The role of product manager is to drive market information into the product planning process by defining product requirements and to deliver the resulting product to customers with a go-to-market strategy. The product manager is responsible for managing the entire product line life cycle from strategic planning to tactical activities.
More specifically, the product manager is responsible for establishing the detailed requirements for the product(s) they manage, the identification of potential customers and customer segments, staying informed of competing products on the market, develop pricing strategies, and overseeing product development and delivery. In addition, they also work with marketing staff in promoting the products. This position will be based in Elsevier's Burlington office.
Qualifications
BA/BS, MBA preferred
· Experience of working in a publishing, sales, editorial, or marketing environment, and experience working with corporate customers
· Demonstrated success in defining and launching products
· Demonstrated experience of working on new e-business projects and products
· Demonstrated success in generating and executing project plans
· Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams
· Demonstrated ability to deliver successful new products in a multifunctional and team based environment
· Understanding of online book publishing market and experience of book content publishing is desirable but not essential
Detailed knowledge of the subjects being delivered is not essential, but confidence in working across a range of media using technologies such as DAM systems, SCORM-compliant packages, and developing appropriate workflows will underpin success in this role.
