INFRASTRUCTURE ANALYSTFramingham, MA

• Function as a dedicated, versatile, technical consultant that can be assigned to IT projects to represent all Infrastructure services, capabilities and standard offerings to those projects. Infrastructure includes server, storage, data center, network and communications platforms.

• Collect and refine project's Infrastructure requirements and translate into technological terms. Document impact and risk analysis. Generate ROI and TCO analysis

• The Infrastructure Analyst (IA) is not intended to actually provide services, but rather to match technical requirements to Infrastructure solutions and services. The IA then facilitates engagement with specialized Infrastructure Service Delivery Teams (STD) that provide service directly to the project or customer.

• Advise project or customer, and facilitate as required, on how to structure project activities and work-flow for consumption by each Infrastructure SDT in a manner that provides highly efficient human resource management for the overall IT organization.

Job Responsibilities:• Technical Analysis – Consolidate and evaluate project requirements and match with solutions from the Infrastructure Service Catalog. This requires a solid understanding of business and project requirements as well as the appropriate and available technology solutions that can be matched with those requirements.

• Project Liaison – Participate in projects and coordinate work-flow from the project into the Infrastructure Service Delivery Team organizations.

• Portfolio Management – Maintain a portfolio of active work. Meet regularly with Infrastructure Service Delivery managers to assure alignment and appropriate project human resource management; this also notifies managers about projected labor requirements.

• Communication and Documentation – This person must have excellent verbal and technical writing skills as they will be required to provide communication materials and documentation between project teams and Infrastructure SDTs and assist in the creation and maintenance of standardized process documentation for the Infrastructure. Occasional senior level presentations may be required.

• Process Development – participate in departmental process and procedure development including, but not limited to ITIL and PMI based implementations.

• Strategic Planning – participate in departmental strategic planning and financial planning as required.

• Teamwork – must work well in a team atmosphere, but also must be self-motivated and able to make sound tactical decisions as required.

• Travel/Off-Hours – will have an occasional requirement to travel to Genzyme and vendor sites within New England, the U.S., Europe and other global locations.

Basic Requirements:• BSCS/BSEE or equivalent education and 8+ years in enterprise computer operations, delivery and support.• Proven effectiveness in a multi-vendor, multi-operating system enterprise environment.• Proven ability to build effective working relationships with customers and clients.• Exposure to one or more standard process frameworks such as ITIL, Six Sigma or LEAN.

Preferred Requirements:Technical competencies required include a working knowledge of designing, implementing and/or operating the following infrastructure components:• Enterprise Server operating system platforms including Microsoft Windows and HP/UX.• Enterprise data network platforms including Frame Relay, MPLS, Cisco Systems switching and routing, Nortel Contivity, Juniper, and RSA SecurID.• Microsoft Active Directory, Exchange 2003, and DNS.• Enterprise storage and archive systems such as HP or EMC Storage Area Networks (SAN) and Veritas NetBackup.• Enterprise voice systems including Avaya PBX systems and related platforms.• Excellent communications and project management skills.• Exposure to formal ROI, TCO and other formal financial models. • Exposure to bio/pharma and regulated environments.
