Rosetta Stone seeks a ROCKSTAR Web Developer with 8+ years of overall experience with web development. If you're tired of long, mundane days in highly uncreative environments and are ready for a chance to be one of 2 developers working on a complex, multi-language eCommerce website of a globally recognized brand—we want to talk to you.
We're looking for someone who has strong skills with Java, PHP, or Ruby on Rails. This person is going to report into our Senior Application Development Manager and is housed within our Web Development team located at our Corporate HQ in Arlington, VA.
HERE'S WHAT YOUR WE'LL LOOK TO YOU TO DO:
* Be senior member of a combined team of onshore and offshore developers (20+) involved from requirements gathering to application launch
* Interact with internal clients to establish application and systems requirements for assigned projects
* Review client requirements and perform gap and/or impact analysis.
* Create design specifications using current techniques and tools
* Provide appropriate documentation both in program code and externally
* Construct markup and code using technologies like XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, Java, PHP & Ruby on Rails
* Become the SME on Rosetta's portfolio of web applications at a very detailed technical level
* Plan, implement, document, and test international web-based, data driven applications
* Interact with Oracle and MySQL databases with intermediate to advanced SQL code or procedures
* Interface with Quality Assurance to ensure accurate delivery of project requirements and compliance with standards, code quality and accepted conventions
* Design all applications and interfaces with standards compliance, global cultural, multi-lingual and multi-currency e-commerce capabilities as baseline requirements
* Perform all stated duties in the context of a heterogeneous multi-language open source environment
HERE'S WHAT WE NEED YOU TO BRING TO THE TABLE:
* Independent problem solving and self-direction.
* Provide excellent interpersonal, communication, problem solving, and documentation skills
* Work with the version control system to ensure a reliable code base
* Solve complex design and development problems
* Bachelor's degree in software engineering or computer science or equivalent experience.
* Minimum 8-10 years of experience as a web developer working with programming and/or scripting languages with an aptitude for software development.
* Broad industry exposure to different web development techniques and technologies for internal and external customers in a variety of environments
* Awareness of and passion for emerging web technologies coupled with the business and technological sense to reliably navigate that ever changing space
* Deep understanding of database technologies from hands-on complex SQL statements to the ramifications of deploying different web application & database interaction models
* Expert level code and markup construction in HTML, XHTML, CSS, Javascript and a variety of popular dynamic scripting languages
* A passion for clean, maintainable, and scalable mark-up, code, and software architecture
* Knowledge of Flash / Actionscript web based applications is preferred
