This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic and seasoned commercial lawyer to work with the global leadership team and head the delivery of corporate legal services to General Counsel and their legal departments of US and Europe based Fortune 500 companies and Wall Street investment banking clients.
This AVP/VP Corporate Legal Services, will be responsible for the following:
* Direct and manage within our India facilities client engagements involving contract drafting, contract summarizations/abstractions and contract management and M&A due diligence.
* Teach junior corporate lawyers industry specific terms of art, business practices, and sophisticated contract drafting skills.
* Ensure that all work product generated by the teams are client ready and meets highest U.S. and international standards.
* Ensure that the team managers lead multiple projects simultaneously while meeting stringent turn-around time expectations and billable hour limitations.
* Support business development activities, including participating in client phone calls and meetings.
* Participate in the budgeting and line of business profitability targets and analysis
* Compliance and leadership of the employee appraisal program for all department team members.
Qualifications
Candidate Profile:
Ideal candidates for this position should have a JD/L.L.B., a western flair, and should demonstrate the following:
* Expertise and experience in servicing global clients in private law firms or within the scope of a legal department of a large corporate entity.
* High degree of commercial acumen and flexibility when approaching challenges and place high priority on teamwork.
* Solid experience and a demonstrable acumen to communicate with and successfully manage teams.
* Ability to teach and review work of junior and senior lawyers
* A desire and level of enjoyment in rolling up your sleeves and getting deep into technical drafting whether to coach junior team members and guide them in climbing up the value chain or to pick up the slack in the event of a junior team member's need for support while at the same time providing an overall senior level of leadership and department management.
Competencies:
* Commercial contract drafting expertise across multiple industries and business transactions.
* Self-starter with a keen desire to grow the business line in terms of quality, scope, and size-rather than purely managing what exists.
* Excellent teaching and coaching skills.
* Self-starter with a keen desire to succeed and contribute to the business.
* Proficient with MS Word and comfort utilizing IT systems and software programs relating to project management, time and billing, and other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) related modules.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills with serious attention to detail.
* Outgoing, interactive, collaborative personality.
Qualifications:
* JD/L.L.B.
Experience:
* Seasoned attorney with overall 10 - 20 years of experience, with at least 5 years of experience in a senior management role with global exposure.

* This is a Mumbai or Delhi based position. Candidates from outside Mumbai or Delhi must be prepared to relocate to Mumbai or Delhi for this position.
