We are looking for a passionate, motivated software developer with a strong foundation in software design and implementation. To support our expanding business needs, we are developing a number of web and client-based applications which will lay the groundwork for the next several years.
As a Software Developer at Water Street Solutions, you will…• Work in a small, closely-knit team of developers that share your obsession with software development.• Develop on the newest platforms, including ASP.NET 3.5 (C#, of course) with heavy doses of LINQ and a little Coolite/ExtJS.• Use the newest tools: currently Visual Studio 2008, switching to 2010 soon.• Report to an IT Manager who understands developers (was one of our senior developers) and spends 50% of his time coding.• Work with fellow developers and business partners to fully evaluate business needs, user friendliness, quality of data, and maintainability of code.• Assist in the demonstration and training in the use of new apps you have built.• Make software that the world has never seen before; custom applications that cannot be bought in any store and that give us our competitive edge.

Qualifications• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or a similar field that demonstrates deep knowledge of programming fundamentals OR some other proof of software engineering skill (Microsoft MCAD or MCSD - completed and current, or perhaps a portfolio of impressive personal projects)
Necessary Skills• Natural programming ability that is independent from experience in any one particular IT buzzword; the ability to master new languages and technologies as they come along• Familiarity (bonus points for experience) with at least some of our current technology stack, including:- C# and ASP.NET- Javascript (especially “The Good Parts”), AJAX- HTML, CSS- SQL Server 2005/2008, LINQ- Windows-based client applications- Source control (svn, git, etc.)• Excellent problem-solving aptitude• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with other IT professionals as well as non-technical coworkers (salespeople, insurance specialists, commodity traders, etc.)• Ability to manage multiple projects with shifting deadlines
