Job Description
The Senior Server Based Desktop Computing Engineer's primary role is to design, implement and manage Server Based Desktop Computing (SBDC) Application Delivery systems, such as Citrix Xenapp, Microsoft Terminal Services (RDS) or Quest vWorkspace. A senior SBDC Engineer will manage the delivery of desktops and desktop applications to end users ensuring high levels of availability, security and performance. This individual also participates in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure SBDC application delivery systems are provisioned and maintained consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.
Required
Education & Certification
· Bachelors or equivalent in Computer Science/Information Technology and 8 - 10 years experience in designing and supporting enterprise server based desktop computing platforms such as, such as Citrix XenApp, Microsoft Terminal Services, and / or Quest vWorkspace.
· Advanced Citrix certifications a plus
Business and Leadership Skills
1. Ability to create and maintain thorough system, process and procedural documentation including application documentation, technical schematics, detailed inventories, work flow processes, decision matrixes, technical white papers and policy and standards documents
2. Ability to develop and utilize metrics, such as server utilization, cost of ownership, and application performance ensuring operational effectiveness.
3. Ability to act as project technical lead including development of detailed work break down structures, provide accurate project and task estimates, deliver successful server based solutions to meet business requirements with a high fidelity to strategic technical architectural plans
4. Ability to gain support for approaches through the power of ideas rather than mandates
5. Ability to easily master and apply and develop technology
6. Ability to employ penetrating and objective evaluations, often pursuing in-depth, multi-disciplined highly effective verbal and written communication, meeting facilitation and presentation skills including executive level presentation skills
