We are currently seeking a Director of Development to join our team!
GENERAL SUMMARY
The Development Director will manage the PEER1 Development teams and ensure that all resources from these teams are appropriately allocated to projects and maintenance. This position will also be responsible for creating and enforcing the agreed to service levels, best practices, and standards as well as overseeing all projects’ production schedules. This position is also responsible for leading the coordination and management of outside contractors for special projects.
Responsibilities/Duties:
Technical
• Lead the development and maintenance of the strategic roadmap to what technologies, processes and systems we should adopt and maintain.
• Developing and maintaining products and systems to deliver content to the Internet with specific attention to availability, performance/capacity planning, and architecture design and implementation.
• Specific technical direction of systems development, upgrade, and deployment projects and maintain a roadmap for improvements and enhancements.
• Responsible for setting and enforcing coding and documentation standards for Web Development and Publishing
• Responsible for setting and enforcing SLAs for Web Development and Publishing.
HR
• Provides review, feedback, counseling, and incentives to employees.
• Ensures HR programs are implemented to produce maximum effectiveness from employees while reinforcing morale and fostering employee retention. Handles pay and administrative issues for employees. Recruit, interview and evaluate employees.
• Provide Management and mentorship to the Development managers, this includes but not limited to overseeing optimal resource allocation and supporting the Q12 initiatives.
Collaboration and Management
• Maintain a solid overview of the Production (product and internal systems) Roadmap and work closely with Business Operations Managers and Coordinators to execute upon the Roadmap.
• Assist with schedules for all production jobs and continuously update project priorities, keeping Production resources aware of those changes. Collaborate with the Business Analysts, QA, and operational leadership
• Responsible for maintaining contract resources’ schedules related to upcoming projects in the work queue.
• Keep internal customers up-to-date on the status of anticipated deliverables, ensuring adequate resources to achieve those deliverables. Management of the internal Roadmap.
• Collaborate with Business Operations Managers and Coordinators to ensure that defined areas within Production are effectively being run.
• Formalizes and documents the processes along with policies and procedures to reduce risk and allow effective operation of the group’s responsibilities.
• Maintenance and management of the CAPEX and OPEX budgets
• Responsible for establishing QA standards and processes.
• Responsible for recommending and implementing the appropriate training.
• Responsible for setting and enforcing resource allocation processes for shared Web Development and Publishing resources.
Required Skills:
• At least 7 years of related work experience preferably in the internet hosting industry
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment, web centric, API rich environment would be an added plus.
• Working knowledge in PHP, PERL, Python, HTML, xHTML, XML, Java Script, CSS, SQL and relational databases (POSTGRES, MYSQL, SQL Server, Oracle)
• Knowledge of applications used in web development: authoring tools
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Internet Information Server and/or Content Management Server
