On occasion, you will also be required to create some print design, like fliers or ads. Job Description

The Sr. Software Engineer will contribute to the technical definition and implementation of Business Intelligence projects that focus on data presentation and visualization. This person will partner with a team of Product Managers, Warehouse Architects, Data Analysts, and Software Engineers to translate business objectives into applications that leverage Cobalt's substantial data resources. Additionally, this person will work with team members in continuous improvement efforts including standards development, automated testing, and transitioning support for Intelligence applications to operational teams.
Essential Functions

- Design and implement sophisticated, creative data visualization applications
- Prototype data visualizations for stakeholder review
- Partner with a cross-functional project team through all phases of the project lifecycle, from needs analysis through deployment.
- Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying technology and process improvements and creating plans for resolution.
- Develop/review technical documents to ensure consistency, accuracy and compliance with standards and architectural directions as they relate to Cobalt's Intelligence environment.
- Provide guidance and mentoring to less-experienced staff members, participate in code reviews as well as in the development of coding standards.

- 5+ years hands on web development experience in a Unix/Linux environment
- 5+ years experience with Java development, including EJB, Servlets, and JDBC
- 5+ years experience conducting performance analysis and design for scalability
- 3+ years experience with relational database technologies including SQL
- 3+ years experience with web integration technologies including web services
- Familiarity with BI tools such as Oracle BI strongly desired
- Proven track record of innovation and creativity
- Familiarity with the online advertising space and/or web analytics strongly desired
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
- Experience with Agile Development methodologies desired
