Spain, Italy, Poland and Austria and will soon launch in India. We have
consistently beat multinational players like Monster.com in these markets and
are prepared to do this again in our further expansion. Careesma forms part of
Grupo Intercom, Spain´s leading Internet group. To prepare our product for
future growth and the introduction into new markets, we are looking for a.Chief
Product Officer (Internet), based in BarcelonaIf you answer “yes” to all these questions

Position:Chief Product Officer – sounds good, but for
us, this is just a title. Important is that you can take on the following four
“roles” with competence and passion:1.
“The Product Mastermind”As the ultimate individual responsible for all aspects related to our
product we expect you to build a world-class Internet application. By
world-class we mean a product…
- that
our users are passionate about and recommend enthusiastically to their friends, - that
is admired by our competitors, - that
our employees feel extremely proud of, - that
is 100% aligned with the company’s strategy, - that
monetizes so well that our CFO gets tears in her eyes ;-)
We expect you to have achieved this
in a previous position. In this aspect, we don’t want you to learn from us, we
want to learn from you! Especially important to us is that you create a
user experience that stands out for simplicity and which is based on permanent
user feedback. You need to gather this feedback, interpret it for us and then
funnel the conclusions into the product roadmap.2.
“The Clairvoyant Strategist”We need you to proactively develop and drive the company´s product
strategy. It will be your responsibility to develop a competitive advantage
into our product. An advantage that is easy to communicate and makes us stand
out against the competition. For this role you need to be a restless innovator
who closely follows industry trends, identifies patterns, anticipates
competitor´s moves and constantly proposes ways of improving our product.3. “The The Lord of Processes”Having great ideas is not enough. We need you
to implement them through clearly defined and rigorously executed processes. In
your role as Product Owner we expect you to:
- Take
full responsibility for the definition, communication and execution of the
product roadmap; applying lean principals like Agile/Scrum. - Be
the driver and single point of accountability for all product related processes of the
company. We need you to assure that these processes are effective, efficient
and that the entire company is aligned behind the roadmap decisions and
objectives. - Intelligently
balance the requirements with the available resources, bearing in mind the
company´s strategic priorities and objectives. - Develop,
present and defend ROI calculation to justify the implementation of new
features and site improvements.
4. “Hannibal – Leader of the A-team”Of course you cannot do all this by yourself.
You need to create a team of true A-players by recognizing and developing
existing talent and acquiring suitable additions to the team.You will become part of a fun and very diverse
team. Our business language is English. You will be a member of the top
management team, reporting directly to the CEO. Our offices are located on
Paseo de Gracia in the centre of sunny Barcelona (Spain), one of the top ranked
cities for quality of life and business in the world.Requirements:You can be a successful candidate
for this position if you have a minimum of 8 years experience with demonstrated
success in the area of product development, at least 3 years of these in a
management role. Additionally, we would like to see that you have demonstrated
the following competencies and skills in your career:
- Hands-on
experience developing and managing a large and demonstrably successful Internet
site from concept to implementation. - Strategic
thinking and visioning; especially the ability to see and communicate the big
picture; Identify opportunities and threats through comprehensive analysis of
current and future trends. - First-rate
planning and organization skills; ability to juggle multiple projects with a
focus on key priorities; at the same time, ability to adjust quickly to
changing conditions and requirements; coping effectively with change and
complexity. - A
highly proactive self-starter attitude, being able to regularly surprise your
colleagues and superiors by under-promising and over-delivering. Develop, present and defend ROI calculation to
justify the implementation of new features and site improvements. - Excellent
communication and influencing skills (in English); being able to convince
colleagues of all cultural backgrounds to buy into your proposals; ability to
manage the complex interfaces between Sales, Marketing and Development. - Technical
fluency - comfortable discussing technical concepts, especially Web 2.0
interface technology and SEO - Ability
to build a team of A-players by attracting and managing talent and coaching it
to improve performance.
The following skills will be valued
but are not required for the position:
- BA/BS/MBA
in Business or/and Computer Science - Experience
in Online Classifieds, especially in the (online) recruitment industry - Experience
in SEO, especially long tail keyword management - Work
experience with lean management and software development methodologies (Scrum,
Agile etc.) - Spanish
language skillsAbility to build a team of A-players by attracting and managing
talent and coaching it to improve performance.
