Clicky is a web analytics service that monitors over 300,000 web sites in real time, making us one of the largest analytics services in the world. Tracking and providing reports in real time for this many web sites is extremely challenging work. But it's also a lot of fun!We are looking for an experienced web developer or two to join our team and help bring us to the next level. We are a small company based in Milwaukie, OR (a suburb of Portland), so you will be working closely with us to help plan and develop the future of our service What you'll be doing:

  • Writing lots of backend code in PHP
  • Designing and working with databases in MySQL
  • Creating beautiful UI/UX with HTML, CSS, and Javascript
  • Clicky is a complex operation so you will need to be an expert in all of these areas. You will also be performing other tasks relevant to the "web developer" job title.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years experience with PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, and Javascript (in particular, jQuery and "Ajax")
  • You're intimately familiar with the challenges of making the same HTML, CSS, and Javascript work well across all major browsers, in particular Internet Exploder
  • You write clean, well-documented code
  • Extremely creative problem solver; nothing stops you from figuring out how to make something work
  • You're not arrogant about your abilities and can work well with people of any skill level
  • You can self-direct, work without supervision and balance multiple duties

Super bonus points:

  • Worked in a startup environment before
  • Experience with web analytics software (Clicky or otherwise)
  • Experience with high load applications (we track over 4,000 page views per second during peak times)
  • Experience with load balancing / multi-server environments (we have almost 60 servers working together behind the scenes)
  • Experience with nginx, python, and memcached (some of the technologies we use in addition to "LAMP")
  • Linux admin skills: cron, apt, shell scripting, compiling source code, editing Apache / MySQL config files, etc
  • Photoshop / GIMP
  • Ruby on Rails (we're in the process of purchasing a service written in
    RoR and would very much like to have an in-house developer capable of
    maintaining it)
  • Version control (git, etc)
  • iOS or Android application development

Compensation:

  • $60-80K/year salary, depending on qualifications

Other:

  • Our office is in downtown Milwaukie, OR, one block from Milwaukie Transit Center. This is where you will be working full time, 5 days a week. (In other words: No telecommuting).
  • Mac or PC, we don't care - we'll buy you the type of computer you want
  • We would like to have you working for us by May 1 at the latest, so you
    need to be available "now". We'll be interviewing in mid-April.
  • NO HEADHUNTERS.
