Position Description
The Morgan Stanley Reference Data team within the Enterprise Data Group is responsible for providing identity and organizational reference data to enable internal Morgan Stanley businesses through the development, integration and deployment of software and infrastructure solutions:
• Identity Access Management
o Directory Services (LDAP, Meta Directory)
o Accounts provisioning/de-provisioning
o User Identity life cycle management
• Organizational Data
o Roles and Coverage data
o Business Functions library
• Large scale business and technology integration projects
Position:
This is an Associate level position for a developer within the MS Reference Data team's Organizational Data area. Activities include:
• Learn and understand the business
• Participate in Functional specifications
• Hands on design and development of components of the platform
• Provide technical solutions for the complete software product life cycle (SDLC) process
• Work in a team environment with business analysts, project managers, developers, testers, and production support
• Interact with other development teams to explain technical details of releases or architecture
• Provide 3rd level production support and enhancement of the current product
• Product documentation
• Interacting with business users and IT users

Skills Required
Technical Skills

• Strong system design skills
• Strong programming skills utilizing Java, SOAP/XML, SQL/Stored Procedures
• Experience programming in Perl
• Experience utilizing Sybase or DB2
• Experience with Data Access technologies
• Experience with Web services development
• Experience developing for the Unix/Linux environment
• Understanding of client/server architecture
• Understanding of database concepts

Personal/Professional Skills

• At least 3-5 years of in IT initiatives; must understand the full lifecycles of systems development including requirements gathering, design, coding, testing, production turnover, documentation and post- production support.
• Strong verbal and written communications skills across all levels of the firm
• Strong trouble shooting/problem solving capabilities
• Self starter, motivated and can work unsupervised
• Structured, organized approach to projects; able to provide accurate estimates
• Able to work in a fast changing environment at times under pressure
