This key member of the Global Technology Leadership Team has responsibility for the delivery of software applications in support of the Benefits Outsourcing division. The Benefits IT Application Delivery Leader is responsible for leading multiple teams of software development professionals to deliver key applications in support of Hewitt's Benefits Outsourcing business. This Executive oversees all aspects of software development, maintenance and support activities to ensure quality product delivery that is both on-time and on-budget.

Responsibilities include:

Strategic Direction

• Contribute to strategic technology vision for global application solutions that meshes appropriately with Hewitt's overall strategic direction and business objectives in the Benefits business.

• "Big picture" person who is able to relate to the entire business problem, not just the technical ramifications and considerations.

• Utilize technology to enhance the overall competitive position of the company. Identify, test and implement appropriate products and architectures that will best prepare the company to meet future business goals.

Software Development

• Provide direction, guidance and leadership within a multi-disciplined group of systems professionals comprised of software developers, analysts and database and business intelligence experts.

• Drive improvement of capacity to deliver high quality solutions that meet or exceed customer expectations.

• Manage the application product life-cycle and work closely with IT Portfolio Managers for planning, estimating and management of the overall work effort.

• Establish the structure, tools and processes required to enforce compliance with software development practices; while mitigating risks using these elements throughout the life-cycle of applications.

• Define, establish, measure and monitor attainment of IT service level agreements (SLA) and software quality targets while holding each involved party responsible for their components of the targeted effort.

• Identify and sponsor advantageous continuous improvement efforts aimed at enhancing the capabilities and productivity of the application development teams.

• Evaluate and effectively deploy on-site and off-shore resources; measuring the comparative performance of each development group and resource; while ensuring that deliverables provided by each group meet standards and match specifications.

• Stay closely connected with Business Unit IT Domain Leaders to ensure that IT solutions are designed for deployment; capable of easy adoption and upgrades by client delivery configuration teams.

Staff Development

• Associate development responsibilities include staff development, performance management, talent management as well as forecasting skills needs (and related training or development or acquisition of those skills).

• Provides general managerial support for staff; including budgeting, compensation management.

Qualifications:

• Ideally, at least 15 years of IT experience preferably focused on custom coded systems as well as at least five-years of executive-level experience developing customer facing software.

• Demonstrated ability to adapt to new environments and lead and drive change

• Experience with an outsourcing or software company or highly complex matrix-organization.

• Experience running HR systems for a large global organization.

• Experience with Pension, 401k or Health systems, a bonus.

• Offshore software development experience critical.

• Experience with building and leading teams of at least 300 systems professionals to best leverage all direct and matrixed resources.

• Offshore savvy and understanding of the issues and assumptions that come with running development and operational programs in multiple countries.

• Strong leadership and motivational skills.

• Strong work ethic and tenacity.

• Exceptional communication and negotiation skills; articulate and persuasive.

• A solid foundation in software development and computer science principles and practices.

Education:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Engineering or closely related field required

• Masters Degree or higher preferred
