Front End Web Developer (Oyster.com)

Oyster.com (http://www.oyster.com), the best hotel research and shopping website, is expanding and we are looking for a front end web developer to join our team.

As a front end engineer at Oyster you will work closely with design and product management to make our user interface usable and beautiful. You will implement new features, improve existing interfaces and help track down browser inconsistencies and rendering issues. In short, you will do whatever it takes to ensure that our site works seamlessly across the millions of pageviews that we deliver every month.

Formed in March 2008, Oyster.com management includes Microsoft alumnus Eytan Seidman, formerly Director of Core Relevance on Live Search (now Bing.com) -- and two highly accomplished serial entrepreneurs, Ariel Charytan and Elie Seidman. Our engineering team includes members who architected and scaled Microsoft's search engine between 2003 and late 2007. They hold computer science degrees from Cornell University, University of Pennsylvania and Harvard.

Requirements

• Mastery of cross browser HTML and CSS

• Serious knowledge and understanding of Javascript/AJAX

• Able to create clean and maintainable code from mock ups

• Care deeply about customers and customer experience

• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States

Pluses

• Experience with one or more JavaScript libraries (i.e. jQuery, Prototype) and CSS frameworks (i.e. Blueprint, YUI Grids).

• Know the drivers of frontend performance and can optimize for them

• Experience with server side programming
