Information Architect - Freelance to Fulltime (Midtown West)

The Information Architect (IA) is a key contributor to defining, developing and visualizing the user interface for all interactive projects for our agency clients. They will work collaboratively with senior executives, strategists, account managers, producers, art directors, designers, and technical team members— from concept through design development and production— to formulate a strategic, highly usable, and technically feasible cutting-edge design solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Defining site functionality, navigation, interaction, site architecture and data flow.

• Analytical and focused thought leader with strength in defining strategic, functional, and business requirements with extreme attention to client objectives and needs.

• Understanding business and user goals, translating these into functional requirements, and working with the team to ensure the user interface reflects requirements and stays within the original project scope

• Creation of use cases and recommendations for user best practices

• Scoping, developing and understanding technical considerations with the assistance of the project technical lead and, as needed, with the client and/or third-party partner(s)

• Working collaboratively with creative and technology team members in developing interface functionality

• Visualizing concepts quickly and cleanly through rapid prototyping methods

• Utilizing standard and consistent site nomenclature reflective of the common language understood by users of the product.

• Working with producers in developing content matrices to show all content elements, relationships and dependencies

• Presenting, clearly and concisely, various stages of the interface design development to the client

• Working collaboratively with technical staff to define page types and templates for production

Requirements

• Portfolio of website wireframes and other information architecture documentation that demonstrates an insightful understanding of website, ecommerce, and interactive content development.

• Superior understanding of online usability best practices

• Unparalleled diagramming ability with a thorough knowledge of Microsoft Visio and/or Adobe InDesign

• Excellent writing, speaking, presentation, interpersonal, and organizational skills

• Highly proficient in following: HTML, XML, Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop, or Adobe Flash.

• A firm understanding of Internet technologies including DBs, CMSs, ecommerce, client-server, and front-end technologies like HTML, JavaScript, DHTML, CSS, and ActiveX would be seen as highly beneficial
