Yoh/Allentown, PAYoh has a contract to hire opportunity for an IT Specialist to join our client in Allentown, PA.
Possession of Secret Security Clearance is required as a condition for employment.
Job Responsibilities:

- Under minimal supervision, performs installation, maintenance and repairs to a wide variety of computer, network and telecommunications systems, equipment, cabling and to other related systems and equipment including warranty repair of personal computers, desktops and laptops.
- Responsible for the installation, repair, configuration and preventative maintenance of personal computers, network equipment, and/or telecommunications equipment.
- Ability to repair and test telecommunications related systems and equipment; operate related tools and equipment; install and operate related computer systems; troubleshoot and repair microprocessor based control and communication equipment.
- Performs hardware and software moves, adds and changes.
- Ensures systems and related equipment are in working condition.
- Maintains records on repairs, down time, changes and updates.
- Perform specialized technical assistance in the configuration, installation, and maintenance of personal computing devices, including laptops, desktops, workstations, printers, and associated peripherals for the customer.
- Technical assistance includes assisting the customer in the use and instruction of the equipment, component configuration / installation and diagnosing / resolving operational problems.
- Reports problems with procedures and makes suggestions for improvements.
- Technician maintains the highest standard of customer service with outstanding oral and written communication.
- Escalates to, or consults with, senior staff when solutions are unclear.

Job Qualifications:

- BS Degree in IT/Engineering related field or 5 years relevant experience.
- Minimum of 2 years technical knowledge of computing hardware, operating systems, and office productivity software.
- Minimum of 2 years customer service and support experience in a PC or operating systems role
- Possess and maintain a valid Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record as conditions of initial and continued employment.
- Capable of lifting 70 pounds.
- Capable of utilizing ladders or step stools to reach heights of approx 10 feet.
- Duties require considerable judgment to work independently toward general results; to devise new or modify/adapt existing methods, techniques and procedures to meet new or unusual requirements; and to make related decisions controlled by precedent and within limits of established policies.
- Responsible for providing computer hardware, software and network technical support to end-users,
- Assists with setup and configuration of system hardware and software.
- Microsoft Office knowledgeable
- Network Knowledge and Skills: Good working knowledge of cable connectors and replacement, such as RJ-11, RJ-45, Voice and Data applications
- Must be proficient in using a laptop to set configurations on equipment such as Cisco routers and other components of an IP Network.
- Implementing software changes (Upload, Download & SW Regression) Installing new software and hardware into various devices such as PCs, Cisco Routers, Sun servers, etc.
- Willingness and/or ability to work outside regularly scheduled hours to meet operational needs and to respond to after-hours emergency calls as required.
- Ability to work out of one's home in an "on-call" status. Financial compensation for on-call status has been factored into hourly rate.
- FREQUENT TRAVEL - 100% Travel. Applicants must be able to travel to remote sites. Should another location require additional support, technicians may be asked to travel outside of their assigned region.

Preferred Skills / Experience / Knowledge:

- Possess an A+, Network+, CCNA, MCP, or MCSE (or similar) training certificate. Dell Warranty repair
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to work in high stress and visibility environment.
- Familiar with configuration and operation of the Cisco products
- Experience with network and circuit testing with T1 Testing Specifications, DS3 Testing, Digital Testing (BERT), and Analog VG Testing within Bell Core Standards is a plus
