We have an excellent opportunity for a Java/ATG/ Websphere Developer in our Technology and Customer Strategies Department.

Under the direction of the Web Development Manager, the Java/ATG and Websphere Developer is responsible for providing web technology leadership and analyzing, designing, and developing applications within the American Heart Association's primary ATG/Websphere Java Web environment and other related web properties. This is a senior level development position with responsibilities that include mentoring other development staff technically as well as resolving development issues escalated from more junior staff.

Major Responsibilities Include:

1. Design and develop application using Java/ATG/Websphere development tools.

2. Provide senior-level debugging, testing, and technical support for existing Web e-business solutions.

3. Provide analysis and development of databases including base definition, structures, documentation and operational guidelines.

4. Integrate within the web team and with project managers and contract developers to ensure development is performed within existing SDLC and web architectural frameworks.

5. Perform proactive technology research. Recommend technology improvement and lead efforts to implement them.

6. Provide technical expertise to TCS and business unit staff as appropriate.

7. Provide level of effort estimates, and assist with planning for and initiating new initiatives.

8. Design and document system specifications, prepares prototypes, monitors hardware/software efficiency and on-time completion of development projects.

9. Provide leadership and mentoring to development staff to ensure that technology solutions are delivered in a standard and high quality manner

Experience:

Required Qualifications Include:

1. Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

2. At least 5 years demonstrated experience in Web development utilizing Java based technologies such as Java, J2EE, EJB, JSP, JHTML, and XML, JavaScript in a Unix/Solaris environment

3. 3 years of experience with ATG framework is required.

4. Prior experience with any of the leading application server framework is a must; experience with Websphere is a plus.

5. Prior experience as a Senior developer on complex web development projects

6. At least 5 years demonstrated experience in Relational Database Management Systems and Administration with Oracle experience preferred

7. Strong analytical and problem solving skills
