Seeking a creative and productive individual to design, develop, and strategize web and multimedia solutions for a large division at UCLA. Technical requirements for this position include knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and ActionScript. This position serves as key liaison between programming teams and campus stakeholders in designing user workflows and interfaces that meet the diverse needs of clients. Provide project management, analysis, design and support for web initiatives ranging from e-learning and mobile application development to course management and collaboration websites. Migrate or redesign departmental websites in the Plone Content Management System. Manage a Flash Streaming Server and explore opportunities for video and multimedia integration with current applications and services. Stay up-to-date on technical advances and contribute to innovation within a fast moving highly collaborative environment.
Responsibilities:
* Oversee all web design and multimedia development in a production environment
* Create compelling print and web interface designs from concept to completion
* Work with various university clients (faculty, department staff) to understand their web and multimedia needs and help them achieve their goals.
* Work independently and in a team environment
* Perform well under tight deadlines with multiple projects
Qualifications:
* Expert in print and web design, user experience, and web page logic workflows
* Advanced CSS, HTML, and JavaScript skills
* Intermediate experience with Flash and ActionScript
* Demonstrated experience with developing (programming, module customization, theming) websites in content management systems (Plone preferred)
* Experience working with course management systems (Moodle preferred)
* Experience with video streaming technologies, conversion processes, and compression best practices
* Ability to manage a Flash Media Interactive Server
* Experience editing and converting video with Final Cut Pro or other comparable system
* Expertise in accessibility and usability best practices
* Highly skilled in all software necessary to perform above tasks (e.g., Photoshop, Flash, Fireworks, Illustrator, Final Cut Pro)
* Experience in mobile application development a plus
* Experience implementing e-learning systems a plus
* Ability to manage diverse stakeholders, rapidly changing project schedules, and diverging client interests
Experience:
* 3-5 years experience as a web designer
~ Bachelor degree in graphic design or visual art is desired or a combination of education and work experience providing equivalent knowledge.
