Job Requisition:
As a mobile application engineer, you will be responsible for identifying technology building blocks; developing prototypes and help us implement the next big idea on mobile services and technology and shape the next mobile experience of our customers. You are expected to have hands-on experience in mobile and internet technology, preferably have develop applications for smart phones and have deployed applications into application stores. In this position, you will interact with the researchers from university and industries, research technology, create, prototype, build and support these concepts.
Main tasks would be to:
* Prototype Design and development
o Develop initial prototype/proof of concept demo and validate them for technical design and performance (20%)
o Identify innovative technology building blocks and co-develop solutions, new applications and services with third party partners. Support the solution through product introduction (30%)
o Define robust architectures for new applications, leveraging and enhancing existing building blocks or creating new reusable components (10%)
* Product implementation
o Evaluate relevant products, technologies available in market or through open source, hands-on testing and benchmark it's features (15%)
o Make sound judgment on *buy vs. build* by taking into consideration the business & technical requirements (15%)
o Develop technology partnership with industry partners (10%)
* Provide technical leadership from design to implementation and articulate new technology, programming, design methodology, and market trends. You will help us adopt open source tools and technology.
* File patents and present technical papers in professional industry conferences and workshops
* Evangelize our vision through the Silicon Valley and mobile ecosystem by active participation in meet-ups, conferences, blogs and events. Build strong connections with startups, internet and mobile companies.
* Self-starter, results-oriented with strong team work attitude. Innovation mind-set and follow-through innovation cycle (feasibility study, design, develop, experiment, deploy, validate).
Job Requirements:
* Ideally you will have developed mobile applications and services that are already deployed in the market through operators or application stores.
* Bachelors in EE or CS required. Master preferred.
* Technology:
o Familiarity with at least one of the emerging O.S for netbook and smart phones: Android, iPhone, WebOS, Symbian, Meego
o Development of applications and services for the above platform. Hands on experience in mobile application development. 3+ years of experience in designing and developing native mobile applications and Web applications using technology such as AJAX, JavaScript, XML, HTM 5.0.
o Web based technology and software in either J2EE, Python/Django, PHP, Ruby on Rails required. Knowledge of recommendation algorithms and data mining is a plus...
* Knowledge and/or fluency in French are a plus. Prior publications in journals, industry blogs and magazines desirable.
* Outstanding communication skills, persuasion and ability.
