Position Description
Enterprise Data Group [EDG] provides data products and services to Morgan Stanley's global Institutional Securities Business. Its data is critical to the front to back sales and trading, operations, finance, risk and regulatory business processes. It is responsible for key enterprise reference data products including (a) Accounts, Documents, Delivery Instructions, Legal Entities (b) People Data – both internal and external (c) Securities Reference Data (d) Pricing and TimeSeries (e) Technical Infrastructure. It operates as a professional data company with teams focused on specific technology product development, data processing, as well as cross products services including production management, technical architecture, governance, and project and risk management.
EDG has an open position for an intermediate to senior level Quality Assurance professional focused on the design, development, and execution of performance and capacity testing strategies across the division. The role involves working closely with the QA Engineers and Managers to understand QA test needs and practices in order to determine the key performance drivers of our EDG products, document performance baselines, identify tools and best practices, create and get agreement on strategies and execute on them. The ideal candidate should be experienced with various standard test methodologies and performance testing practices, able to quickly acquire business and application knowledge and apply this learning to the design, implementation and delivery of performance and capacity testing programs.
Skills Required
Specific Responsibilities:
• Work closely with QA and Development teams to identify and document performance test requirements for the GUI, Middleware, and DB components of our internal applications, including baselines, performance targets, and test strategies
• Identify appropriate tools to perform the test execution and validation
• Create and execute all types of performance testing (Load, performance, capacity)
• Document and report all test results and metrics to both QA and Technology management
• Communicate effectively and proactively with the business team, developers and EDG Test Services management to resolve issues and follow-up on progress.
• Abide by best practices in software test development.
• Contribute to various continuous improvement programs across Test Services processes and tools.
Skills Required:
• Computer Science (BSc or MSc) or related degree very highly preferred.
• 7+ years experience working as a QA professional
• 5+ years experience with performance testing
• Familiarity with industry standard performance testing tools
• Experience in relational databases (Sybase) and Solaris/Linux operating systems.
• Self-motivated team player with ability to prioritize and to multitask
• Experience in Software Development Life Cycle methodologies
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Skills Desired
• Familiarity with Unix command line and various Unix shells
• Experience working as part of a global team
• Ability to deliver as part of a dynamic non-traditional development team
