Windows is powering devices of all shapes and sizes. The market for these devices has grown at an astonishing pace, and is reaching an inflection point of high growth and high volume, spawning a massive network effect we often refer to as ‘The Internet Of Things'. The Windows Embedded Business (WEB) is responsible for bringing Microsoft technologies into these devices. Given the multitude of partners we work with and devices our products run (Ford Sync, enterprise handhelds, picture frames, set top boxes, media players, thin clients, medical systems, etc…) we have one of the broadest industry exposures of any group in the company. We need your help to build out the next generation platforms, runtimes, and user experiences to power the next billion Windows-powered devices.

Inside of ‘The Internet of Things' are the devices we use every day, like the automobile. Winning this experience is a highly unique and challenging problem. In the car the primary way the driver interacts with the device is through voice commands and audio. The car is a challenging environment for these interactions due to the varying noise sources and the need for a non-distracting experience for the driver.

The automotive team in WEB is looking for a highly skilled audio and digital signal processing engineer to help define, implement, and innovate on the incredible audio experience we currently possess.

The ideal candidate will be able to work directly with hardware and be able to write software from a very low level (C) to the high level (C++/C#). The position requires someone who is extremely passionate about devices, audio, and industry changing technologies and is able to quickly ramp up on new work and enjoys incubating research work into a released product. The ideal applicant for this position will be comfortable thinking outside the experiences and imagining what tomorrow's devices and systems will look like.

Besides excellent competencies in coding and design, as well as a passion for quality, engineering excellence, team work and the desire to constantly improve yourself, you must have demonstrated experience taking technology from conception to release including writing specifications for new features and fixing bugs in unknown code. Master or PhD in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering or equivalent area is desired.
