You must have demonstrated the ability to think strategically and execute tactically around the technical, business, and cross functional issues. You must have the proven ability to lead teams on significant projects with complex business and technical requirements. In addition, you must have the ability to thrive in quite a dynamic environment. The systems that we build and maintain are critical for Microsoft operations, so you must have advanced technical and architectural skills.

Also experience in building distributed web applications & services, very large database based systems, and data warehousing and reporting space is required, as is the ability to communicate effectively with executives and business stakeholders across business groups, subsidiaries and regions. Finally, the role requires that you have strong problem solving skills, excellent collaboration skills, and the ability to deal with ambiguity/conflicting objectives and a strong drive for results.

NOTE: This is an individual contributor position, but the candidate must be able to perform the functional of technical lead on major projects, some of which have team members across geographies.

Qualifications

6 + years experience in architecture, development and deployment of enterprise-scale distributed systems and infrastructure

Capable of leading highly technical engineering project teams on given projects

Demonstrated understanding of engineering processes that drive efficient execution on high-quality, customer focused, on-time releases. The candidate will have to be familiar with the different software development life cycle approaches including Scrum/Agile.

Excellent cross-group collaboration and negotiation, organizational agility

Able to work independently, reliably and precisely under pressure and deadlines

Flexible with, high tolerance for, and ability to manage ambiguity and uncertainty

Technically strong, in-depth web applications & services, database and data warehouse knowledge

Deep technical capabilities - application engineering technologies, tools and engineering processes

Experience with ASP.NET, .NET Framework, C#, SQL Server, Linq, Entity Framework, WCF

Good understanding of Build & Deployment Process, and experience with VSTF

BS in a technical discipline | A Bachelors and/or Masters degree in computer science or engineering is preferred

Experience in the IT Quarterly Release Cycle is preferred

Preferred / Nice to have: Experience with Silverlight and Windows Azure
