The Protection Services team is responsible for protecting the world against threats to the Windows operating system. We provide online services and backend infrastructure that drive Microsoft's flagship security products. We release new malware protection every eight hours and deploy monthly improvements to our services, which support hundreds of millions of customers of Windows Intune, Microsoft Security Essentials, Forefront Endpoint Protection, Windows Defender, Malicious Software Removal Tool, and more. Every single day, the volume of malicious attacks grows, and every single day we prevent over 4 million infections, collect thousands of suspicious files, and release thousands of new signatures that detect and protect against thousands of new malware threats. Business customers and consumers look to us to deal with the growing malware volume and complexity and to provide silent, continuous, real-time protection, with excellent performance and high quality.

We are a small and agile team with a mandate to scale up/out and to embrace the cloud. We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Software Development Engineer who is passionate about the customer experience and has the capabilities to be a senior leader on the development team as well as be a key contributor to the overall product design.

The successful candidate will have strong system/services design skills and experience leveraging technologies such as Windows Services, SQL, Web Services (WCF) and strong implementation skills in languages including C# and SQL. Developers on our team need to be able to learn quickly and apply skills to a broad range of projects. A firm commitment to quality and engineering excellence, and excellent cross-group collaboration skills are also required.

Required Qualifications:

• 7+ years of software development experience, including building robust, reliable, scalable and performant services on windows platform.

• Deep knowledge of C# (C++ knowledge also preferred). Proficiency in object oriented development.

• Experience in the following areas: .Net Framework, ASP.NET, Web Services, SQL, XML and related technologies.

• Demonstrated ability and experience in the entire product development cycle, including design, implementation, debugging, shipping and maintenance.

• Ability to mentor junior developers through technical issues.

• Ability to take ownership and drive feature areas to completion, work independently, lead virtual cross-group teams and manage multiple priorities and deliverables at the same time.

• Outstanding technical, written, and verbal communication

• Solid performance review history required for internal candidates.

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience is required
