The Technical Consultant will play a leadership role in the delivery of Benefits and Pension applications to a Global Client base.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Conducts systems analysis and has high degree of skills in coding, analysis and advanced debugging in a particular area.
• Project management oversight for development work.
• Subject matter expert for a particular platform for one to many clients.
• Coaches others and contributes and leverages through a larger group of associates.
• Has wide latitude for independent judgment and is highly skilled with extensive proficiency.
Application Analysis and Design:
• Set direction on design and implementation of system wide development issues.
• Provide oversight of systems integration. Provides understanding of all processes at a higher level to provide guidance to developers and facilitate resolution of design and support issues.
• Creation of re-usable, configurable and high performing application designs.
• Creation of high-level technical designs. Must be able to create effective technical design documents that are used to clearly communicate technical designs to development teams.
• Reviewing and providing feedback on technical specifications created by onshore and offshore teams.
• Creating prototypes of functionality to share with the business subject matter experts and operational teams globally
Coordinates Application Development and Testing Activities:
• Manages development priorities for specific processes.
• Ensures that methodologies are followed, including the creation of proper documentation for all changes and enhancements.
• Acts as a point of contact for development teams to identify and answer development questions.
• Performs code reviews for development activities.
Consults with functional team members:
• Acting as a technical subject matter expert to application and architecture functionality and code for a broad set of client specific business processes.
• Providing estimates for work effort duration for change requests and new development efforts.
• Knowledge sharing with ongoing operational teams in the effective use of the applications.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives:
• Participate in business wide initiatives to improve our delivery model, develop new technical tools, improve operational efficiencies and increase the effectiveness and re-usability of our application development efforts.
Project Management:
• Develop and manage the technical implementation plan for implementations, major releases and maintenance efforts for a Client.
• Track development progress and monitor project related risks.
• Single point of contact for development activities with Client team operations and project leadership.
Problem Solving/Troubleshooting:
• Provide leadership in crisis situations.
Coaching and Fostering Talent:
• Coach system analysts and developers and share technical knowledge to strengthen the team skills.

• Knowledge of and experience with development principles and methodologies.
• Willingness to learn, document and support a variety of systems.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, with an ability to communicate with all levels of management, employees and customers.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills in troubleshooting issues as part of a global virtual team.
• Experience with high levels of accountability with demonstrated initiative, flexibility and ability to manage workload and achieve results.
• Experience with working within an offshore model.
• Candidates should have participated in at least one significant system implementation or upgrade with significant ongoing support experience.
• Self starter with ability to operate under minimum supervision.
• Experienced in interacting with infrastructure support resources during joint troubleshooting sessions.
• Proficient in the use of and development in MS Office suite of products including Excel, MS Word and MS Access.
Education:
• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems or equivalent Professional Level Work Experience.
Travel Requirements:
• 5% - 10%per year

Technical Skills:
• Knowledge of and experience with structured application development
principles and methodologies including the SDLC process.
• 6 years of ASP.net / VB.net / JavaScript technical experience.Â
8 years of SQL Server 2000 / 2005 technical experience developing complex stored proedure,functions, queries, trigger, batch Jobs and DTS packages
• 6 years of Access and Advanced Excel (including VBA) technical experience
• 4 years of Benefits and Pension functional experience or related areas.
• Relational database development and design knowledge desirable.
• Experience with Project Management and office tools, including:
• MS-Project
• Lotus Notes
