As a software architect in this group, you will be joining a highly productive and innovative team of researchers, software engineers and product managers building new consumer-driven products and technologies for our Internet, mobile and television businesses. The goal of this team is to make substantial impact on new consumer-focused products for Orange's growth initiatives through technology transfer and intellectual property development.

The ideal candidate likes independence but thrill at the resources of a multinational corporation. We are looking for well-rounded developers who can create high-volume production applications as well as rapidly develop prototypes. We prefer individuals who have a curiosity to keep up with the latest technology and market trends and who love to tinker and explore.

Responsibilities:
* Perform new product design and development.
* Technical lead on multiple concurrent projects and prototypes
* Write both server-side and client-side code for web-based applications, may with also client-side applications either on mobile or television
* Direct and mentor consultants or other junior employees.
* Ideation resulting in new product and concept developments and patents.
* Work closely as needed with external strategic partners to co-develop products and solutions as needed.
* Work closely with a cross-functional team including product managers, designers and developers.
* Remain current on technology trends and best practices.
* Interact closely with the Silicon Valley ecosystem and communities.
* Work closely with strategic marketing, product development and R&D teams in our European business units.

Requirements:
* BS/MS in compute science or related field and/or equivalent work experience.
* Extensive experience programming in one or more of the following: Java, C/C++, Python, Ruby, Erlang, Scala
* Previous experience with web development frameworks such as Spring, Rails, Lift as well as JS/CSS/XHTML.
* Previous experience with both relational databases and/or the upcoming NoSQL movement.
* Previous experience developing and designing high volume consumer-facing Internet services, ideally from concept -design- production to operation
* Prior experience in agile development or pair programming is a plus.
* Prior experience developing mobile apps (iPhone, Android) is a plus.
* Ability to prototype quickly and keep iterating to a production-level quality.
* Unique blend of business and technical savvy, a big-picture vision and the drive to make that vision a reality.
* Demonstrated strong performance in previous jobs with increasing level of responsibility.
* Strong project management and organizational skills including the ability to handle multiple parallel projects.
* Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
* Strong analytical skills
* Active user and critic of latest web and mobile applications
* Ability to work in an agile environment with rapid product innovation and iteration
* Strong people and organizational management skills.
* Ability to deal with ambiguity and uncertainty with a degree of maturity.
* Knowledge of French a plus.
