SQL Database Administrator / Yoh / Indianapolis, IN
Yoh/Indianapolis, INYoh has a contract opportunity for a SQL Server DBA to join our client in Indianapolis, IN.
Job Overview:
Administers computerized databases, including base definition, structure, documentation, long range requirements, operational guidelines and protection. Provides technical guidance to power users in the use of efficient queries. Ensures database integrity, performance tuning, indexing, segmentation and database recovery. Schedules, implements and documents database changes. Ensures a current database model and data dictionary is documented and available to staff.
Job Responsibilities:
- Plan, control and execute activities related to day-to-day maintenance such as creating backups, editing indexes and modifying table structures for developmental efforts.
- Establish and implement database policies, procedures and standards, and ensure their conformance.
- Facilitate development, implementation, maintenance and continuance of databases within the current infrastructure.
- Diagnose and resolve any direct or indirect issues from application database, Integration testing database and data warehouse.
- SQL Programming on an as needed basis.
- Researches and evaluates alternative solutions and recommends the most efficient and cost-effective database solution for the systems design.
- Allocate and maintains system storage and plan future storage requirements
- Develop and implement performance monitoring techniques and implement tuning solutions without loss of data integrity.
- Establish and execute an efficient database archival strategy that satisfies the business needs of both funds.
- Plan and execute software and version upgrades.
- Mentor junior developers and programmers on database fundamentals and techniques.
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelors' degree required with emphasis in business information systems, Computer Science or finance & accounting.
- MCP in SQL server administration is a plus.
- Must have at least 5 years of database architecture, data modeling and database design experience.
- Knowledge of SQL 7.0 to SQL 2000 migration is a plus.
- Significant experience with day-to-day management of SQL Server.
- Expertise in designing and optimizing large databases, database extraction and loading concepts.
- Experience with OLAP server/tool (specifically, Cognos) deployments and integration.
- Strong knowledge in Database Triggers, Stored-Procedures, packages and tuning techniques required.
- Experience in deployment of large complex systems in a distributed environment is a plus.
- Knowledge and experience in implementing data-replication techniques.
- Thorough understanding of project life cycle and hands on experience with successfully managing large databases
- Possess ability to credibly coordinate between teams of technical resources and business stakeholders
- Advanced communications skills and leadership skills are essential
- Strong organizational skills and must be detail-oriented
- Demonstrate oral, presentational and written communication abilities
