The job:

As Senior Software Development Engineer in Test you will be responsible for leading the technical direction of our team. You will be responsible for creating long term strategies to improve our quality assurance, and drive these strategies into our everyday processes. You are expected to coordinate the QA effort with product manager and developers to ensure timely discovery is built into our development methodology.

You are expected to take architectural decisions for the test framework development based on your deep understanding of the nature of automated testing, including reliability of tests, resiliency to code churn in application, traceability to requirements (functional as well as nonfunctional) and metrics for coverage.

You will be expected to familiarize yourself with internal (Microsoft) and external (Industry) testing methodologies, technologies and trends, evaluate which are relevant to our team and drive their adoption internally through presentations, whitepapers and strategic initiatives.

Your team operates in a local organization of 500+ people and on a larger scale cooperates with other teams and organizations worldwide, including several teams in Microsoft Headquarters, US.

Responsibilities:

Your role within the team will be to

- Lead the technical direction

- Create test strategies to drive quality into development process

- Engage in all steps of the software development cycle: Requirement review, Test Plan creation, concurrent test of development, testing for release criteria

- Understand customer requirements, solicit customer feedback and use it for prioritizing effort

- Review software components and interfaces in technical depth and architectural breadth

- Devise processes for maintaining automation base that must be executed on a re-occurring basis to avoid regressions

- Provide overall technical vision for the team and report on team progress towards that vision

- Work with developers and product managers to ensure common understanding of QA efforts and how they tie into the development process

- Design and develop solutions for test management, execution and reporting as well as frameworks, C# libraries and similar to support high-quality test code

Qualifications:

An ideal candidate is someone with

- Passion for product quality and experience with software QA.

- 5 to10 years of professional experience with C# or similar object oriented programming languages.

- Experience with the ERP domain and ERP customer requirement.

- Experience in Visual Studio developing environment and SQL server

- Ability to create visions and drive team effectively toward them

- Experience in developing software test automation

- Very strong analytic and problem solving skills

- Excellent English communication skills - written and oral

- An academic degree within computer science, engineering or math

You will work on the Microsoft Development Center Copenhagen campus, which is Microsoft's largest development center in Europe employing over 650 staff. The work environment is truly international with over 40 different nationalities working under the same roof. Each trainee will be provided desk and PC and a mentor to help guide them through their work experience. The campus is situated on a wooded, park-like site, complete with sports fields and walking trails just north of Copenhagen and easily accessible by train or bus.
