Basic Function:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
UNIX System Management, system administration/operations and maintenance in support of business initiatives.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain, and support system solutions based on UNIX systems platforms, connectivity (LAN/WAN, SAN) and related system software.
- Utilize scripting and automation tools for the implementation of desired solutions and understand their administrative requirements.
- Ensure all systems adhere to ADP Utility standards.
- Understand product environments in order to manage and support associated technical infrastructure.
- Understand installation, configuration, and maintenance of operating systems, application software, computer hardware, peripherals, networks, and systems communications according to technical standards defined by the ADP Utility.
- Develop and implement automated procedures and technical documentation for system implementation, and software distribution, roll out and maintenance.
- Provide 24x7 technical support coverage as required
Work with internal groups such as Development, QA, and Technical Support, as needed.
- Produce technical documentation, test plans, system performance data and perform other related duties as assigned.
- Ability to automate system administration functions using UNIX shell scripts via ksh, bash and/or Perl.
NON-ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Mgmt/Supv Responsibility:
Provides guidance to and assists in training less experienced technical staff. Provides technical and functional guidance. May act as a technical leader.
Experience:
- 5-7 years experience as a Administrator in a Unix environment.Â
- Experience configuring, installing and troubleshooting complex Unix systems.
- Experience engineering, supporting and troubleshooting systems used for complex client server applications.Â
- Experience engineering systems running a RDBMS product such as Oracle, Sybase or Informix.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
- Ability to work under pressure of time constraints and to prioritize assignments necessary.
Education:
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or equivalent education and experience required.
- Specialized training in computer systems engineering, system administration and network engineering required.
