Description
The Web Developer role is primarily to help management build upon three prototype websites that are already setup on servers and ready for customization OR recommend alternative options for development. (Prototype websites are templates Wordpress, Joomla, and Drupal). Overall, the role is key to assure the successful execution of the companys business mission through development and deployment of the companys web presence. This requires co-crafting the companys service with management, leading implementation of web and mobile applications, and planning for risk and growth.
Overview
You will be tasked with overseeing all technological aspects of our websites from inception to completion. This includes, but is not limited to: identifying optimal user interface design based on our concepts, identifying appropriate technology stack, hardware and software architecture design and planning, defining coding standards, front-end and back-end coding, database work, and estimating timelines for code completion. The ideal candidate will be comfortable building large-scale social and ecommerce platforms using either php/myql or ruby on rails framework.
Position Requirements (Please have most of these)
Formal Education & Certification
University degree in the field of computer science, business administration, or another rigorous discipline. An advanced degree in one of these fields is a plus.
Knowledge & Experience
Demonstrated ability to envision web-based services that meet consumer needs or solve business problems.
Minimum 2 years experience managing web application development.
Experience with startup companies a plus.
Hands-on experience coding in the more than one currently popular web/mobile application framework.
Hands-on experience in all frameworks that will be utilized for the development of MyVC preferred.
Ability to manage outsourced technology staff during initial stages of development (before technology department creation)
Familiarity with more than one software development methodology
Ability to discern user requirements and develop specifications
Skill with CSS, XHTML, PHP, one or more Javascript frameworks, and AJAX
Experience with Flash a plus
Experience with Flex a plus
Knowledge of web standards
Experience with UNIX system administration and web server configuration
Knowledge of Internet protocols and RFC standards, database management systems, and version control systems
Familiarity with technical requirements of Internet marketing and search engine optimization
Familiarity with information security vulnerabilities and risk management
Familiarity with consumer privacy and payments industry compliance requirements
Exposure to business theory, business process development, governance processes, management, budgeting, and administrative operations
