Tribune Technology is seeking a highly-motivated Software Engineering Team Lead to join the
Tribune Technology team in Orlando.  Work with seasoned web professionals to develop high-traffic, dynamic, multi-media web sites and products.

 
This position will be responsible for leading a team of web developers in the creation, publication, maintenance and coordination of multiple online products and web sites, as well as project delegation and ensuring the successful delivery.  This position will also interface with Project Management, Product Management, and Operations staff.


Required skills:

·         Ruby on Rails
·         PHP 5
·         Experience building, maintaining, and debugging multi-table relational databases (PostgreSQL AND MySQL)
·         Expert-level and standards-compliant XHTML and CSS skills
·         JavaScript/AJAX
·         Familiarity with producing/parsing XML/RSS data
·         Familiarity with Test-Driven Development

  • Strong knowledge of software development methodologies, practices, and procedures, with an emphasis on Agile methodologies (XP or Scrum).

·         Proven experience leading high-performance software development teams.

  • Demonstrated project management skills and the ability to work with various levels of management.
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Must be able to participate in occasional travel to Tribune business units, vendors, or client sites.

Other preferred skills:
·         WordPress CMS
·         JavaScript libraries including jQuery and Prototype
·         Flash and ActionScript 3
·         MVC Frameworks

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
  • The ideal profile includes 7+ years of object-oriented development
  • 1+ years of Ruby on Rails experience is a strong plus
  • 4+ years managing software staff
  • 4+ years Internet-specific experience
