This position will be an administrator for Java, Ruby on Rails and Apache servers that support internal, external customers and SAAS. This role will cover development, test and production systems. There are several production clusters in several geographic locations. This position will be directly involved in supporting the developers. The candidate will need to be able to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced team environment. Experience with Linux/UNIX operating systems is required. The candidate should have experience in one or more of the following technologies:

• WebLogic / Glassfish Administration
• Ruby on Rails / Passenger Administration
• Linux / UNIX system Administration.
• Apache webserver configuration and setup

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• On call support of production Java, Ruby on Rails and Apache servers on Linux. Business hours support for development systems:
o Support systems serving applications to international and domestic offices.
o Support systems serving external applications and content to the internet - some of these systems will be offsite.
o Support for systems serving our SAAS application.
o This position will be required to carry a pager in a rotating pool.
• Support development and testing environment in the Natick office which will include:
o Assisting developers in debugging application by using tools and monitoring applications
o Using monitoring tools to find problems spots in production and development, and escalating these to development for resolution.
o Building new systems and upgrading and patching existing ones. Supporting application deployments.
• The candidate must be able to present changes to app server architecture to developers. Ability to create knowledge sharing presentations to help developers understand and leverage the systems capabilities.
• Must be able to learn on the job and explore new technologies - several of the technologies we use are not common and may require on the job and offsite technical training.
• Participate in the building of tools to support the infrastructure:
o Using scripting languages to build tools and utilities to aid production support, such as monitoring and automated problem resolution.
• Teamwork with our Systems Services, Business Applications and eProducts and Services groups.

Qualifications:
• BS / MS in computer science or related field
• 5+ years experience working in an IT organization
• Experience administering UNIX / Linux
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to learn quickly on the job
• Prior administration of WebLogic / Glassfish Java server
• Prior experience with Apache Web Server
• Prior experience with a 24/7 system

Nice to have:
• Experience using java debugging tools is a strong plus
• Experience in Apache Web Server maintenance and support
• Ruby Passenger maintenance and support
• Prior experience with virtualization stacks (VMware, Xen)
• Experience with monitoring systems (Nagios, Tivoli, BMC…)
• Perl or shell scripting experience
• Familiarity with hardware load balancers (F5)
• Prior experience in working with Open Source software such as building, configuring and integrating is helpful
• Knowledge of web application development concepts
• Knowledge of web infrastructure security
