Web Design Intern (Long Island City)

Webline Designs is a full-service web design and development studio located in Long Island City servicing clients in the greater NYC area. We are passionate about helping our clients leverage the Internet to grow their businesses.

We are currently seeking an onsite, part-time Web Designer/Intern to join our team.

Ideal candidates will have at least 2 years of graphic/web design course work, experience using Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, and Acrobat as well as a portfolio of web-related work. The candidate must be a creative individual with knowledge of design, have the ability to work well in a demanding, fast-paced environment, have a strong work ethic and positive attitude.

Responsibilities:

• Under the supervision of our Lead Designer, help maintain existing web sites, seamlessly integrating new content into existing sites as necessary

• Scanning, formatting, cropping and correcting photos and other images

• Compression and optimization of images

• Updating HTML and CSS files

• Creating custom icons and favicons

• Creating and editing PDFs

• Developing custom interfaces for web sites

• Working with custom WYSIWYG editors and CMS solutions to update content management and e-commerce sites

Requirements:

• Strong visual arts/web design skills

• Working knowledge of HTML, XHTML and CSS (HTML5 a plus)

• Expertise in working on a Mac (Windows, Unix, and/or Linux a plus)

• Proficient knowledge of Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Illustrator and Acrobat (Flash, InDesign and Office a plus)

• Portfolio demonstrating artistic and creative skills (web-related projects a plus)

• Knowledge of graphic compression and optimization

• Knowledge of cross-platform/browser support, web usability standards, trends, and best practices on the web a plus

• Knowledge of social media platforms a plus

• Experience with JavaScript, jQuery, XML, PHP and/or AJAX a plus

• Ability to meet deadlines and quality expectations amid the demands of a fast-paced work environment

• Ability to take art direction and constructive criticism

• Team player with a responsible, professional attitude and work ethic

• Reside in the NYC area. (Out of area candidates will not be considered)
