Web Developer Announcement (Downtown)
The Information Technology (IT) Department of the National office in New York City is seeking applicants to apply for a temporary position of Web Developer.
The Web Developer will be jointly responsible for providing technical support of the ACLUs websites, e-marketing and activism efforts, Intranet and listservs, including both in-house development and coordination with vendors as appropriate.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform technical maintenance of and on-going development for ACLU's websites and Intranet, including projects related to implementation and trouble-shooting for CMS and eCRM applications;
Be responsible for development or configuration, integration, testing and troubleshooting of web-based tools and functionality for the ACLU websites, the Intranet, and our eCRM;
Conduct website maintenance (e.g., control user accounts, access rights, and passwords) and develop security models as required;
Track and resolve front- and back-end technical problems and manage technical projects;
Research, propose, design and develop solutions for new website/Intranet needs;
Administer and enhance the ACLU's web analytics solution, including generating and analyzing both regular and ad hoc reports, and identifying trends;
Develop web applications and integration tools, which may include working with pod/vodcasts, RSS feeds, and/or custom CMS templates;
Design, develop, and support custom ACLU micro-sites as required, based on ACLU technical practices and internal client requirements;
Implement and monitor ACLU security and privacy policies, including developing custom solutions for enhanced privacy or security;
Implement and review functional and multivariate tests on website functionality
Manage vendors relationships and on-going projects such as search engine optimization;
Assist in evaluation and selection of website consultants;
Track and set up domain names;
Other IT projects as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
o Bachelors degree preferred;
o Minimum 3 years experience with website development and related technologies;
o Development experience in PHP and MySQL databases;
o Experience HTML (including ability to handcode), XML, CSS, Javascript;
o Experience with at least two of the following: open-source content management systems (Drupal preferred), eCRMs and online advocacy platforms (Convio or Salesforce preferred), web analytics (Omniture preferred), or Microsoft Sharepoint;
o Advanced Acrobat experience such as OCR processing scripting and basic Flash development preferred;
o Knowledge of various web audio and video file formats, especially related to pod/vodcasting;
o Experience with full lifecycle web project management preferred;
o Experience with working with development vendors and diverse teams;
o Excellent organizational and communication skills.
