Web Developer/Graphic Designer Needed for Startup
About us:
We recently relocated from San Francisco to New York to develop and launch our company. We have to be purposefully vague on craigslist as to what were doing, but think of it as online retail technology for small businesses. Not ecommerce. Not a Groupon clone. But rather something truly innovative that can change the face of modern day commerce. We work out of our apartment in Midtown East two blocks away from the 59th street subway, conveniently located off the 4, 5 & 6 Express trains. Were currently seeded with F&F capital and in contact with tier one angels from Silicon Valley while we wait to finish an alpha of the product before raising our first round of outside investment.
Who were looking for:
We need an incredible web developer with serious design talent to join us as we grow and put the finishing touches on our product in preparation of an alpha launch.
You need to understand and be enthusiastic about the startup mentality. This entails coming in and doing whatever needs to be done and iterating designs until best results emerge. We expect you to be passionate about experimenting with layout and design until its just right. You will need to code HTML & CSS quickly, and make logos, icons, custom graphics, gradients, and drop shadows to achieve the best look for the pages. You will have plenty of guidance and direction from the founders, we have already created mockup pages in HTML & Photoshop of every page, as well as coded the backend. We just need you to bring an artists touch to the design and let your creativity fuel it. As our first outside web developer, this role will be pivotal and requires a huge amount of passion, capability, and vision. Understanding and executing the message were trying to send across the UX is crucial.
We are looking to contract for our initial web development. If the initial contract goes well and youre an incredible fit possessing dedication and talent, this position can easily evolve into something fulltime with equity.
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Minimum 2 years of experience with standards driven HTML/CSS. Knowledge of Object Oriented CSS a plus. Look it up if you dont know it.
- Excellent design portfolio. Photoshop, Illustrator, etc. Whatever it takes for you to make something eye-catching. Attach a link to your portfolio in your email.
- A great attitude. Being excited about what youre working on and having passion for building a beautiful product. Whether or not this turns into something fulltime, you will hopefully be adding positively to the culture and ambience of the company.
- Javascript/Flash experience a plus but not necessary.
- College students are welcome to apply. As long as you have superb design skills and understand the responsibility of this role, feel free to apply.
Pay is dependant upon background. Were looking to contract for ~$1,000 but price is negotiable. Can work in our office or from home, but need to be available to meet with us a few times a week to review progress. Flexible hours.
Please include a cover letter, CV/Resume, and link to portfolio.
